Selective School Test Preparation

What?

The Selective High Schools Tests are designed to be a test of general ability for students in Year 6.

Students are tested in:

  • Reading (45 multiple choice questions in 40 minutes)

  • Mathematics (40 multiple choice questions in 40 minutes)

  • General Ability (60 multiple choice questions in 40 minutes)

  • Writing (one writing task in 20 minutes)

When?

Year 6 Selective School Tests are held in March. The test normally starts at 9:00 am and finishes at 1:05 pm. Students are given a break in between each test. Results are published in early July.

Purpose?

For students to gain entrance to a selective or agricultural high school in Year 7.

How can CAPRA help prepare students for the Selective School Test?

CAPRA runs holiday courses designed to familiarise students with the format and style of the Selective School tests, thereby enhancing each student’s confidence and performance.

Students work through numerous practice papers and questions are explained in detail by our experienced teachers.

Students are also offered exam tips and techniques to help maximise their test marks.

Our holiday Selective School Test preparation program takes place in the Term 3 and Summer Holidays.
