Primary School

The Capra Learning System Consists Of:

1. Lessons

  • Lessons at CAPRA are comprised of theory, discussion and worked examples.

  • Classes run once weekly. The duration of the class varies depending on the particular school year.

  • Each student receives a weekly lesson booklet with notes that are both detailed and comprehensive.

  • The emphasis is on understanding rather than memorising.

  • Students are taught effective study and time management skills as well as exam techniques.

  • There is a maximum of 6 students per class, ensuring a very high level of monitoring and support.

2. Homework

  • Homework is designed to consolidate all subject matter covered in the previous lesson.

  • Our process allows us to monitor and assess each student’s progress and level of understanding.

  • Homework consists of exam style multiple-choice, short answer and long response questions.

  • Students must hand in their completed homework at the beginning of the following lesson. This will be marked and returned for self correction.

  • Should a student fail to complete their homework they will be required to attend and receive support at a workshop session.

  • All homework and corrections must be up-to-date prior to sitting a specific topic test.

  • If a student continues to disregard homework and subsequently fails to complete it under our supervision, we cannot guarantee their improvement under our learning system at CAPRA. In some circumstances it may be necessary to withdraw our services.

3. Workshops

  • Workshops give students the opportunity to receive help with accumulated corrections recorded in their homework and test sheets.

  • Students are also encouraged to bring in any additional questions they may have in relation to work being covered at school.

  • There is a maximum of 6 students per workshop.

  • Workshops are held at weekends.

4. Topic Tests

  • Topic tests are administered at the completion of every unit of work covered to help assess and monitor each student’s understanding and progress.

  • Regular topic tests provide students with the opportunity to fine- tune their exam technique.
