F.A.Q.

How can CAPRA help my child?

The learning environment at CAPRA is supportive, encouraging and dynamic.

Students are made to feel comfortable whilst being inspired and motivated by teachers who care and know how to get the best out of their students.

Why tutoring? Isn’t school enough?

School teachers are limited in the amount of time and personal attention they can provide to each student in their large classes. Meanwhile, competition for entry into top private and selective schools and universities is intensifying. Parents and students must therefore establish whether their expectations and goals can be fulfilled through schooling alone.

Who teaches the classes?

CAPRA actively recruits teachers and tutors who are passionate and enthusiastic about the learning process and possess exceptional leadership and communication skills. They are inspirational mentors, who know how to make the learning experience both enjoyable and interesting.

How does CAPRA compare with private home tuition?

Compared to private home tuition, CAPRA provides a greater range of resources, comprehensive theory notes on every topic, marked homework and personalised feedback. In addition, student understanding is regularly assessed through our regular quizzes and topic tests ensuring that much importance is placed on the revision process.

Why does CAPRA advocate tuition in small groups?

Small group tuition is a highly effective method of learning as students are able to learn from the questions and answers of other students in the class.

Such environments induce a sense of healthy competition with other focused and conscientious students, motivating students to work harder.

Small groups allow easy comparison with students from other surrounding schools and help to foster their personal, social and communication skills.

How many students are there in classes and workshops?

There is a maximum of 6 students in any class or workshop, ensuring the highest degree of student monitoring.

Do you grade your classes?

Yes. We believe grading is vital in ensuring an optimal flow of learning within any class. As such, we conduct initial free diagnostic tests for all new students. These initial assessments allow us to group students of similar ability from the same year.

Will I need to purchase any materials for my course?

No. All course resources are provided, including a folder containing a set of theory booklets, homework sets, quizzes and practice tests covering all work for the term.

How will I be informed of my child’s progress?

Student progress is monitored through our weekly homework sets, regular topic tests and quizzes. Marks are compiled at the end of each term and a thorough report is sent to all parents, accompanied by individualised teachers’ comments.

Are there any classes during the school holidays?

CAPRA conducts holiday revision courses aimed at students aspiring for top results. These will provide the opportunity for students to consolidate and extend the work studied throughout the term and maintain the momentum during the school holiday period.

How do I know whether my child is completing their homework?

CAPRA collects and marks students’ homework weekly, providing detailed feedback on their progress and understanding. Parents are notified in the event of incomplete or unsatisfactory homework, and students are required to attend workshop sessions to complete all outstanding homework and corrections.

Do you provide parent teacher interviews?

Yes. Parent teacher interviews are available upon request.

Can CAPRA help students who are struggling at school?

Of course! CAPRA is committed to helping students of all abilities reach their full potential. We are confident that we can help any student who is genuinely interested in improving and willing to apply themselves and meet us half way.

When is the best time to start?

We have found that introducing and developing good study habits from a young age is extremely beneficial and places students in a better position to go on to succeed in many aspects of their academic life.
